49 Calling on the Lord to Save You from Temptation
“Nevertheless I am continually with you; You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon the earth that I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. For indeed, those who are far from You shall perish; You have destroyed all those who desert You for harlotry. But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have out my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all Your works” (Psalm 73: 23-28).
“All my acquaintances watched for my stumbling, saying: Perhaps he can be induced; then we will prevail against him, and we will take our revenge on him” (Jeremiah 20:11).
“Arise, O Lord! O God, lift up Your hand! Do not forget the humble. Why do the wicked renounce God? He has said in his heart, ‘You will not require an account’. But you have seen it, for You observe trouble and grief, to repay it by Your hand. The helpless commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless” (Psalm 10:12-14).
“Take hold of shied and buckler, and stand up for my help. Also draw out the spear, and stop those who pursue me. Say to my soul ‘I am your salvation’. Let those be put to shame and brought to dishonor who seek after my life; let those be turned back and brought to confusion who plot my hurt… And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord; it shall rejoice in His salvation. All my bones shall say: Lord, who is like You, delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him. Yes, the poor and the needy from him who plunders him?” (Psalm 35:2-4, 9, 10).
“Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications” (Psalm 130: 1, 2).
“I will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence comes my help. My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore” (Psalm 121: 1-8).
