48 Trust in the Lord and Take Refuge in Him

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). “Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever” (Psalm 125:1). “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you: He shall never permit the righteous to be moved” (Psalm 55:22).
Have comfort in the Lord always and He will never leave you or allow you to be shaken during time of tribulation.

Don’t you ever think that the Creator who made you from naught, and knows all your concerns before creating you, will forget you after creating you!

If you took refuge in the Lord, nothing on earth will bother you, and no enemy will overcome you.

If a person threw a stone at a wall or aimed his arrow at a hill, the wall will not be destructed neither the hill will be shaken. Likewise, if you put on the power and armor of God, and be shielded by His strength, and found refuge under His wings, so the enemy will not overcome you, and if the enemy threw his arrows, it is imminent to return and hit him, for the power of God encompasses you from all directions.

The Lord prevents the satanic fiery arrows from His people, and calms the waves against them. He is the refuge for those who are in need, the strength for those who are struggling, the help for the helpless, the joy for the unhappy, the comfort for those in sorrow, the glory for the despised, “But You, O Lord, are a shield to me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill” (Psalm 3:3, 4).

Do not be afraid or troubled, for the Lord your God is your strength and help. He is with you throughout your journey on earth, helping you in your sojourning path.
Everywhere you will find Him waiting for your arrival (cf. Luke 15).

In every calamity, He is beside you comforting you, helping you and strengthening you.

In every step and spot, you see the imprints of Your Savior, for He is with you in everything, whether in a trial or calamity or sojourn or in a valley or at the shore or in the sea or in fire, and in all that, you will find Jesus there for you; whether before you or waiting for you or accompanying you.

Hide in Jesus as the bird finds refuge in its nest. As the bird flies up high, it is safe from the hunters’ nets. Likewise, you use the divine mercy as your wings, and the strong arms, to be safe from the paws of the enemies who are trying to trap you “Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; and in the shadow of Your wings I will make refuge, until these calamities have passed by. I will cry out to God Most High, to God who performs all things for me. He shall send from heaven and save me. He approaches the one who would swallow me up. God shall send forth His mercy and His truth” (Psalm 57:1-3).

You cannot cross the sea without a ship, so take unto you the ship of the spirit to allow you to pass through the temptations, and reach a safe harbor and eternal comfort.

Be like a baby when he cries, he finds refuge in his mother’s bosom, so in time of tribulations and trials find refuge in the Fatherly bosom. When the turtle sees danger, it hides in its shell, and the porky-pine rolls into a ball, allowing its spikes to defend it so no one attacks it, be likewise also. Flee and hide in the fortress so your enemy cannot fight you. Find refuge in the Lord, so the enemy will be able to reach you. Enter the enclosure so the beast will not tear you apart.

Those who have the wings of God do not need any other to cover them or strengthen them, for the Lord is their comfort and protection. He is much better and very secure, more than locks and bulwark.

Many of the great guards of Israel protected king Solomon during his sleep, but was he at rest? His father David used the earth as his bed and the sky as his cover, and yet his enemies followed him, thirsty for his blood. He found comfort in the bosom of God, to protect him, thus, his sleep was sweet, comfortable and relaxing, for he had God as his safest pillow! Having refuge in the Lord was his best shelter and coziest and warmest cover for him.

“I called on the Lord in distress, the Lord answered me and set me in a broad place. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do? The Lord is for me among those who help me; therefore I shall see my desire in those who hate me. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.

All nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I will destroy them. They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me; but in the name of the Lord I will destroy them. They surrounded me like bees; they were quenched like a fire of thorns; for in the name of the Lord I will destroy them. You pushed me violently, that I might fall, but the Lord helped me. The Lord is my strength and song, and he has become my salvation.

The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the Lord does valiantly. The right of the Lord is exalted; the right hand of the Lord does valiantly, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.

The Lord has chastened me severely, but He has not given me over to death” (Psalm 118: 5-18).
