“Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.” Luke 10:3 . As St. Augustine says, these wolves devour up the lambs and so the wolves are transformed into lambs. It is a mission not to devour His apostles, but to convert the wolves into lambs by means of the meekness of His lambs, that is His apostles. As St. John Chysostom says, “He is above all the one who knows the nature of things: that ferocity is not put out by other ferocity, but by gentleness”. #lambsamongwolves #dailyreadings #coptic #orthodox #ApostlesFast

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness.” 2 Timothy 4:7,8 . “For it behooves us both to contend and to run; to contend, by enduring afflictions firmly, and to run, not vainly, but to some good end. It is truly a good fight, not only delighting, but benefiting the spectator: and the race does not end in nothing. It is not a mere display of strength and of rivalry. It draws all up to heaven.” St John Chrysostom #thegoodfight #finishedtherace…

“Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.” Ephesians 5:14 . “This is the resurrection of the hearts that is the resurrection of the inner man or the soul. He Himself who grants light to the blind raises the dead.” St Augustine #awake #arise #lightofChrist #dailyreadings #coptic #orthodox #ApostlesFast

“To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.” Luke 1:79 . “The world was knocked about in the very dark mazes, and in shameful ignorance. The cloud of ignorance forbade the multitude of people from seeing the Lord Jesus, the redeemer. He is the God of truth and justice, the Lord of all was manifested to the Israelites, a light to them and a sun to their souls.” St. Cyril the great #StJohntheBaptist #light #peace #dailyreadings #coptic #orthodox #ApostlesFast

“Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.” Mark 13:33 . “This is how you pray continually — not by offering prayer in words, but by joining yourself to God through your whole way of life, so that your life becomes one continuous and uninterrupted prayer.” St Basil the Great #watch #pray #prayer #dailyreadings #coptic #orthodox #ApostlesFast

Contemplations
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16 . “At times of persecution the soul grows more, adds every day more experience of faith; that even if the body perishes, it reaches eternity through the worthiness of the soul. Even though the body may dissolve by scourging and torture, yet the inner man is renewed by faith, hope, and the will that looks forward to encourage those in agony; for the hope of the soul is proportional to the sufferings of the…
