“Patient waiting is necessary that we may fulfil what we have begun to be and, through God‘s help, that we may obtain what we hope for and believe.” – St. Cyrpian #hope #perseverance #patience #dailyreadings #coptic #orthodox

Then, because he had said, “Whoever would save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it,” Jesus makes a strict distinction between salvation and destruction. This was to prevent anyone from imagining the one destruction and the other salvation to be all the same thing in the last instance. The distance is infinite between destruction and salvation. Then he makes this inference once for all to establish these points: “For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?” Do you see how the wrongful…

“Once you have set out to follow Christ’s way, do not promise yourself worldly prosperity. He walked through hard things but promised great things. Follow Him. Do not think too much about the way but more about the goal ahead of you. You will have to put up with tough conditions on your journey through time, but you will attain joys that last forever.” St Augustine #StTheodoreofShotep #goodsoldierofChrist #endure #eternaljoy #dailyreadings #coptic #orthodox

Evangelists don’t just extend human beings’ lives a few years on earth. Rather, they guarantee unlimited numbers of years or rather an eternal number of years in heaven. They don’t open the eyes of the blind to enjoy seeing things for some time. Rather, they open the eyes of all to see eternal truth and enjoy the afterlife. They don’t solve the temporary earthly problems (actually they may add some problems to those who start believing in Christ and following His teachings). Rather, they solve the most serious and complicated problems I.e. eternal death, corruption and evil – Abouna Daoud…

The darkness is being turned into light. There is not, as some heretics argue, a nature so alienated that it cannot receive salvation. Those who receive salvation, the righteous, are “the light of the world.” Those who refuse, the unrighteous, are in consequence called darkness. The difference and distance between one and the other is clearly seen by their own fruits. – Saint Jerome . #BeTheLight #ReturnToTheLord #Salvation #CopticOrthodox #Coptic #Orthodox #DailyReadings
