From the third hour of Tuesday Eve of the Holy Pascha God asks us in Malachi “I have loved you says the Lord…If then I am the Father, where is My reverence?” “You offer me defiled food on My Altar.” God is gently reminding us that through our sin we have dishonored Him. Further, in the Gospel, Christ expresses His willingness to gather us, but in our disobedience we have rejected his continued efforts. Yet the Church again, reminds us that in spite of our disobedience have to hope in God. ‘Having left them, as being unworthy, he says that when the time of his passion has arrived, he will then barely be seen by them. Then again he went up to Jerusalem and entered amidst praises, and at that very time endured his saving passion in our behalf, that by suffering he might save and renew to incorruption the inhabitants of the earth.’ St Cyril of Alexandria #coptic #orthodoxy #holyweek #tuesdayeve #holy #pascha
