“The Great Salvation” Winter Youth Conference 2015

“The Great Salvation” Winter Youth Conference 2015

It was great to have H.G. Bishop Paul back again with us for another conference. This year we had the conference on the weekend of the 4th of December. The theme of the conference was salvation and “how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation” Hebrews 2:3.

Upon arriving we were given the welcome pack by the organised registration team. The first of Bishop Paul’s talks started on Friday and of course we can’t forget the gifts he came with from Kenya giving them out to any and all answers. The first talk set the mood for the weekend and it was on how great is our salvation and how it is an expensive unconditional gift, given to us all for free.

Nice and early on Saturday we had a Divine Litrugy to celebrate the feast of St Philopateer Mercurius (Abu Sefein). Through the day we had a few talks from His Grace and an entertaining 5 minute sketch, group discussion and hymns with prayers to complement the talks. The talks covered many topics; including how through the deception of the devil and through temptation of false joys and sins, we are enslaved and made lame losing our salvation. But that the Grace of God is greater than our weakness and through God we can be victorious like Joshua. That I can do all through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13) if I take the helmet of salvation and sword of the spirit (Ephesians 6:17) and trust the Lord. The group work allowed us to sit together and discuss the themes of the day and whether we are in God’s plan or have strayed like Samson. Coming up with interesting points, plans and ideas that we could use in the future.

Sunday concluded the conference with a morning mass, quite time and the final talk from Bishop Paul in which he stressed on the importance of trusting the Lord fully for everything in our lives and our plans and not to look for joy elsewhere.

I would highly recommend to watch / listen to the talks available on the website as they are great. We thank H.G.Bishop Paul for a great conference and we eagerly look forward for another one.
