Servants Retreat 2013 – Christian Leadership
On the weekend of 18th – 20th October 2013 servants from different parishes gathered for a retreat focusing on theme of leadership. This wasn’t any ordinary event talking about ordinary leadership; we were blessed to have Dr. Magdi Lateif give us talks on specificly Christian leadership. The inspiration coming from the Book of Jeremiah 1:5 where God said: “Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”.
One of the most intriguing topics was how a leader empowers others. Examples were taken from the Bible to see what methods God Himself used to empower leaders, how those leaders empowered and the consequences of lack of empowerment. To conclude, practical applications were derived from these lessons for the ministry within the church. The retreat covered detailed ideology of leadership in Christianity, goal setting, the integrity of the leader, how to serve the poor and how to plan for the service.
It was wondersul the way this retreat was structured. After each talk the attendees split into workshop groups and at the end of the workshop session, each group presented their findings.
