Statement Concerning the Sri Lanka Bombings

The Coptic Media Center issued the following statement regarding the events in Sri Lanka:

The Coptic Orthodox Church, led by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, condemns the series of bombings that took place on the island of Sri Lanka on April 21st, 2019, which resulted in the death of tens and hundreds of woundedd worshipers and believers. 

The Church strongly rejects all types of violence against any human regardless of their belief, race or nationality, and prays that the Lord may grant the families of the martyrs who shed their blood comfort and peace, and grant speedy recovery to the injured. The Church also prays for a world free of hatred and violence, and that love and peace may prevail in every corner of the earth.

Statement Concerning the Christchurch Shooting in New Zealand

The Coptic Media Center issued the following statement regarding the events in New Zealand:

The Coptic Orthodox Church, led by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, condemns the treachorous terrorist attack that took place on March 15th, 2019, at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, which resulted in the death of tens of people. We reject all types of violence against any human regardless of their belief, race, or nationality. 

We pray that God may grant all the martyrs' families comfort and peace, healing to the injured, and rest to those who were affected by this painful attack. We also pray for all the souls that are sick with bigotry, extremism, and hatred, that they may be healed and restore their lost humanity. 

May God stretch out His might hand of peace and rest upon the world, for He is the Almighty Lord of everything.

Ordination of Fr. David Zeitoune

With great joy, the Diocese announces the ordination of a new priest on Sunday 13th January 2019 to serve in the Diocese.

Deacon David  was ordained as Fr. David at St. Mary & St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Centre in Birmingham through the laying of hands by His Grace Bishop Missael.

The joint service was attended by the congregations of St. Mary & Archangel Michael in Solihull  and those of St. Mary & St. Abu-Sefein of the Coptic Centre.

His Grace said, "Fr. David's prime service will be focused on the youth, as they are the future of the church."

Fr. David will now retreat for  his 40 days of fasting and preparation for the service.

We pray that the Lord may grant the new presbyter the gift of the Holy Spirit and bless his service for many years.

Statement on the Bomb Found in Nasr City

The Coptic Media Center issued the following statement regarding today's events:

The Coptic Orthodox Church, led by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, mourns Major Moustafa Ebid of the Bomb Disposal Unit, who was killed while attempting to check a bag found near St. Mary’s and Abee Sefein Church in Izbat Al-haganah, Nasr City, which contained a hidden bomb that exploded.

The Church sends condolences to the family of the martyr and pray to God to heal those wounded in the explosion.

The Church also thanks the Police force for all its efforts in keeping the nation safe.

May the Lord keep Egypt from every all evil.

Ordination of Fr. Andrew Malek

With great joy, the Diocese announces the ordination of a new priest on Sunday 16th December 2018 to serve in the Diocese.

Dr. George Malek was ordained as Fr. Andrew at St. Mary & St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Centre in Birmingham through the laying of hands by His Grace Bishop Missael.

His Grace ordained Fr. Andrew to assist in serving the congregations in Birmingham. 

Fr. Andrew will now begin his 40 days of fasting and preparation for the service in retreat. 

We pray that the Lord may grant the new presbyter the gift of the Holy Spirit and bless his service for many years.
