“The one who is quick to wrath falls in rashness and commits many sins. He may take action that he will regret very much when he is calm. He would feel that in his anger, he lost his divine image and became a stumbling block for many…” – Pope Shenouda III #coptic #orthodox #anger

“Oh friend be what you will. Cover the wide expanse by length and breadth. Satisfy your longing for position and rank, your desire for wealth and glory satisfy. In the end you will tumble exhausted, stretched in a narrow pace under the ground. Heart motionless, enveloped in silence, no throbbing and no pulse are there.” – Pope Shenouda. #coptic#orthodox#dailyreadings#popeshenouda#faith

+ Happy Feast of the Cross + “For Christ alone, as God, was able to procure all good things for us. And with exceeding good omen, He speaks of being “uplifted” instead of being “crucified.” For He would keep the mystery invisible to those intent on killing Him; for they were not worthy to learn it: nevertheless, He allowed them that were wiser to understand that He would suffer because of all and on behalf of all. And especially I suppose any one might take it in this way, and very fitly; that the Death on the Cross was an exaltation which is ever associated in our thoughts with honour and glory. For on this account too Christ is glorified, forasmuch as the benefits He procured for humanity thereby are many. And by these He draws men unto Himself, and does not, like the disciples, lead them to another. He shows therefore that He is Himself by Nature God, in that He does not put the Father outside Himself. For it is through the Son that a man is drawn unto the knowledge of the Father.” ~ St. Cyril of Alexandria #feastofthecross #cross #uplifted #glorified #dailyreadings #coptic #orthodox
