“Endurance produces character, which contributes in some measure to the things which are to come because it gives power to the hope which is within us. Nothing encourages a man to hope for blessing more than the strength of a good character. No one who has led a good life worries about the future…. Does our good really lie in hope? “This living water is great, for it is the gift of the Holy Spirit…may it flow within me, may this that gives eternal life flow in and over me. May the Source flow on us and not far away from us; for wisdom says: “Drink water from your own cisterns, and running water from your own well. Should your fountains be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets?” (read Prov. 5:16-17). How can I protect my pots from suffering the cracks caused by sin, and avoid the leaking of the waters of eternal life? Teach us, O Lord, teach us as You have taught Your apostles saying: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and were thieves break in and steal” (Matt, 6: 19-20)” St Ambrose #SamaritanWoman #LivingWater #EternalLife #HolySpirit #HolyFifty #ChristisRisen #TrulyHeisRisen #dailyreadings #coptic #orthodox

“And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” ‭‭- I Corinthians‬ ‭2:4-5‬ . Saying that the gospel was preached without words of human wisdom does not belittle it, but that, on the contrary, is the greatness of the splendor of the gospel, that it is divine and from heaven. The proof through words of human wisdom, and the cleverness of eloquence, is weaker than the proof by works and signs; Yet, to take away any doubt that those signs are like the deceptive kinds of signs presented by the diviners, he did not say: “in the demonstration of the power”, but said “in the demonstration of the Spirit”, then, “of the power” (4), to confirm that the things done are all spiritual. Saying that the gospel was not proclaimed through words of human wisdom, does not therefore imply any kind of despite, but is rather a great adornment; as it is a proof that it is divine, and high from heaven; Hence he adds: “that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God” (5). The proof by works and signs is greater that by words. – St. John Chrysostom . . . #CopticOrthodox #WisdomOfGod #PowerOfGod #Almighty #Coptic #DailyReadings #HolySpirit

‭‭- I Corinthians‬ ‭2:4-5‬
.

““And anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven.” -‭‭Luke‬ ‭12:10‬ ‭ . There is nothing worse than blasphemy! No sin can be compared with it. Nothing else enrages God so much, as for His name to be blasphemed. For this no one should either be negligent and be swayed himself, but neither should he be indifferent, if he hears his friend or his enemy blaspheming. This sin increases all the evils, disturbs and confuses our whole life and in the end prepares for us unending hell and unbearable punishment. The person who is impious and blasphemes God, who goes against His laws and never wants to abandon this absurd argument, resembles the drunkard and crazy person. He acts worse than those who are in a state of intoxication and have lost their reasoning, even if he himself doesn’t seem to feel it. Blasphemy and lewd speech, even if they are born in the soul, don’t remain however in it, but also defiles the tongue which spews them out, they also pollute the hearing which puts up with it. Like other poisons they poison both the soul and the body. – Saint John Chrysostom . . . #Coptic #CopticOrthodox #DailyReadings #Faithful #SonOfMan #HolySpirit

Happy Feast of the Apostles . “Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world.” Psalm 18:4 . “Jesus tells us that His holy Disciples will be more courageous and more understanding when they would be, as the Scripture says, Endowed with power from on high (Luke 24:49), and that when their minds would be illuminated by the torch of the Spirit they would be able to see into all things, even though no longer able to question Him bodily present among them. The Saviour does not say that they would no longer as before need the light of His guidance, but that when they received His Spirit, when He was dwelling in their hearts, they would not be wanting in any good thing, and their minds would be filled with most perfect knowledge.” St Cyril of Alexandria #FeastoftheApostles #StPeter #StPaul #Apostles #HolySpirit #dailyreadings #coptic #orthodox

Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. – Psalm‬ ‭51:10‬ . . . Be ashamed when you sin, don’t be ashamed when you repent [To repent means to have a change of heart and mind. It is not simply a feeling of sorrow ,but a psycho/spiritual growth away from evil/death and a turning to God/life]. Sin is the wound, repentance is the medicine. Sin is followed by shame; repentance is followed by boldness [Boldness means to beg God for undeserved mercy]. Satan has overturned this order and given boldness to sin and shame to repentance. – Saint John Chrysostom . . . #Coptic #Orthodox #HolySpirit #Repentance #Confession #Sin #CopticOrthodox #DailyReadings #HolySpirit

“whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” – John 4:14 . “Since our nature has deteriorated and become as hard as stone due to the worship of idols, and has become frozen in the cold of atheism and unable to progress; therefore the Sun of Righteousness arose (Mal. 4:2).In this bitter cold, the coming of the spring appeared, and the warm southern winds erased all traces of the cold; while the shining rays of the Sun brought warmth to the whole world. Consequently, the human race that had turned into stone on account of the cold, became embraced by the warmth through the Holy Sprit who is the rays of the word of God. It is in this manner that the Holy Spirit once more becomes like the water that grants eternal life (Jn, 4:14)… ‘Who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of waters (Ps 114:8).” – St. Gregory of Nicea #LivingWater #HolySpirit #EternalLife #SamaritanWoman #dailyreadings #coptic #orthodox #ChristIsRisen
